Drain Care 101

Sometimes after surgery on the breast a drain will be placed. This is to evacuate the fluid our body can make when tissue is removed. The drain is to optimize so healing of the surgical site.
This video is to review the basic steps of drain care. You will receive direct teaching from the nursing staff in the recovery area after surgery, however, this is an additional reference. Remember if anything is unclear, call the office and ask.
 

Drain Care Steps:

  1. Empty the Drain at Least Daily
  2. Record the Output (CLICK HERE FOR A LOG)
  3. Place back to Suction
  4. Wash Hands
  5. Bring Log to Office Visit
  6. Call the office with any questions!
